Summer vacation has come and gone and that means that across the nation many schools are already back in session.  As students begin to get back into the routine of going to class and working on homework, why not add another routine as well—that of keeping the classroom and school clean.

In most schools, there are several students assigned to a classroom and as such, there is a lot of dust and germs present.  When kids walk around the room, and they do, they stir up dust.  That dust has to settle somewhere, and when it does, if not taken proper care of, can trigger allergies and respiratory conditions  As quick dusting of all the surfaces in the classroom, each day before class, can go a long way to aiding in keeping the classroom clean.  And don’t forget the vents and the doorframes, as those are the most overlooked areas in most cases.

A good mopping and sweeping of the floor, after dusting, would be in good fashion as well.  When you dust, the dirt then falls to the floor.  You will need to give the floors a good sweeping and if need be a mopping over a well.  If you have rugs in the classroom, make sure to shake them out really well before sweeping the floor.

Next, you will want to wipe down all the surfaces with a sanitizing wipe.  With multiple students in a classroom, the possibility of germs being transmitted back and forth is a real concern.  To help prevent this from occurring, make sure to wipe down all surfaces that the students frequently touch.  If you have a sink In the room, wipe it down several times a day.  And don’t forget the door handles and door knobs.  These are the areas most prone to germs and are touched by everyone in the room, several times a day.  That is why it is best to wipe them down throughout the day as well.

Finally, if a student seems to be sick or just doesn’t feel well, send him to the school nurse.  It is best not to take the chance that they will spread an illness to the other students, and the nurse can determine I the student needs to go home for the day.

As you can see by the simple act of setting a routine in place, keeping a clean and tidy classroom or even school won’t end up being quite so stressful of a task.  In the long run, you provide an atmosphere more conducive to learning, as well as work towards preventing the spreading of germs.
